Austin, Texas, doesn’t meet the stereotypical image one might have of Texas. Eclectic, cool and liberal, it’s a hotbed of indie music and funky bars and venues.

I spent two weeks here for work, and in between work commitments sampled quite a few of the night venues, went to a Dolly Parton lookalike contest and got my fix of Tex Mex.

As the capital of Texas, I also had to investigate the local politics, including the LBJ museum and the beautiful Texas State Capitol building. A stunning building which was built in the late 1800s, apparently it’s taller than the US National Capital in DC, living up to the reputation that everything really is bigger in Texas.
