The pedestrian crossing in Shibuya, one of the neighbourhoods in Tokyo, is extraordinary. Not only is there a constant stream of people from all directions as soon as the light goes green, but everyone seems to know what they’re doing: there’s no bumping into each other, people just glide past each other seamlessly.

One of the best places to see the pedestrian crossing from above is from the Starbucks on the corner – simply order a coffee and go up the stairs, or just sneak through via the record store next door.
