Photo of the Week: Kinkaku ji, Kyoto

This was one of my favourite temples in Japan. Popularly known as the Golden Pavilion, the building is called Kinkaku-ji and is located in the Rokuon-ji Temple grounds. From the entrance, we turned the corner and were absolutely stunned at the sight before us. The temple grounds are gorgeous to walk around in as well, filled with ponds, beautiful, lush, green gardens, and small waterfalls.

Of course, being one of the most well-known temples in Japan, this temple is packed with tourists all day long. Best to go early in the day to attempt to avoid the hordes from the tourist buses which line up side by side in the car park.
